Type of intervention: New construction
The intervention of Marco Castelletti was the occasion to upgrade the existing building and establish a dialogue with the new volume containing an indoor pool, and the surrounding woodland and green landscape.
The project is the result of a search for seamless integration between the existing house and the new addition, so that this latter is perceived as a natural extension. Thema worked on the extension: the pavilion, integrated into the garden, with glazed walls on all four sides, covered with a special zinc-titanium alloy, and home to a gym, pool, sauna/Turkish bath, as well as a small independent turret that contains a bedroom.
Starting with the existing building, the new material covers and gives a whole new configuration to the roof, covering the volume of the pavilion, which extends as a rectangle with double-pitch roof in the direction of the wood, up towards the higher part of the land, and culminating in a panoramic room next to a wooden sun room.
The characteristic element of the Thema project are the long windows of the pool, which slide to open fully, in three sections.
