This office building in the centre of Milan stands out for the way in which the façade has been divided, alternating geometric filled and unfilled spaces, created with windows and with curtaining in Montorfano white granite. The building, which dates back to the late 1950s, has been renovated and upgraded with an intervention to designs by Lombardini22, carried out by IGS. The renovation of the façades and all internal windows are the work of Thema, which intervened on the building while remaining as faithful as possible to the original designs by Magistretti.
Thema did not make any changes to the existing stone elements, which were completely restored, or to the thickness of the window profiles, although thermal and acoustic performances were improved. Aluminium windows with thermal break and concealed sash were designed and built, making it possible to use very slim sections with excellent results in terms of performance. Concealed sash windows also make it possible not to highlight the position of opening windows on the building’s façade. The back of the building was modified with the addition of a fully glazed curtain wall system to guarantee improved comfort and better workspace lighting.
