Under the supervision of Marco Castelletti, the recovery and energy adaptation work on the seventies building gives a cleaner look to the duplex residence by accentuating the volumes so that the building becomes an elementary cube form. The building’s relation to its natural surrounding and the seamlessness between the interior and exterior are evidently the focus of the design, while the panoramic visuals over Lake Pusiano and the excellent energy performance are a mark of the new architectural style.
The perimeter walls are painted black, while the white backdrops create the fronts and form a base for the custom-made slatted structure in larch wood that covers the whole building.
On the first floor, which has been created by demolishing the pitched roof and raising the perimeter walls, is an indoor-outdoor pool with windows sliding on tracks, a large glazed skylight with a single section by Thema which makes this an open-air room.
