An example of how an urban void can be recovered through architecture, to transform it into a pulsating place of life and innovation: The Milano LUISS Hub for makers and students is the result of a conversion project for an ex-industrial area in Zona Garibaldi, an events space dedicated to training, to school-work training and a start-up incubator. The Milano LUISS Hub for makers and students is the result of the committed work of Milan City Council, the LUISS, Libera Università Internazionale degli Studi Sociali Guido Carli, Fondazione Brodolini and ItaliaCamp.
Fabbricanove recovered the existing volume and proposed extensions which create a dialogue with it, adding three volumes, with a fully glazed case-like structure facing the large external square, made by Thema The goal was to reproduce an urban microcosm, with all its internal dynamics, within the city. Thema was responsible for the outer shell, the interior/exterior solar shading in glass, the door, window and façade systems, as well as the custom-made entirely glazed access gate.
